With heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our brother Calvin at his home on Regent Street, North Sydney (formerly of Peppett Street) on Sunday, June 14, 2020. 

Born in North Sydney on September 23, 1946, he was the son of the late Wilson James and Martha Jane (Ingram) Crowther.  He was employed with Eastern Paper Products in Sydney for 28 years and then transferred to Moncton until he retired in 2002.  He then moved back home to take care of our mom.  Calvin was a very quiet man who loved to travel, take daily drives, barbeques on his sister Debbie’s deck when all the family got together and Christmas dinners at her house.  He looked forward to his weekly lunches with his good friend Marie, who was always there to lend a hand to him and the family.  He loved his “John Wayne” collectables which he had many of. 

He is survived by his siblings Anne (Winston) McHardy, Saint John, Debbie (Dave) Marshall, Sydney River, Wendy (Jeff) Crowther-Barnes, Florida, Dave Crowther, North Sydney, Gary Crowther (Marie Powers), Sydney Mines and David Crowther Jr, Halifax, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, whom he enjoyed being around so much, they had him wrapped around their finger.  He will be greatly missed by his grand nephew Ronnie Crowther, who he always said was the son he never had; also Ronnie’s family, his wife Alysha, their girls Riley and Callee.  He will surely be missed by us all.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Donnie Crowther.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
