Carl Parsons

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Gregory Parsons, age 60, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend, on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in North Sydney on July 23, 1963, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Hawley) Parsons.

Carl spent over 30 years working as a flat-roofer in Ontario. He was passionate about antique cars, building and restoring many over the course of his life. He enjoyed doing yardwork and projects around the house. He was very proud of what he had. His other great love was his family. He enjoyed nothing more than spending summer vacation at the trailer with his grandchildren, all of whom equally loved spending time with their “Papa Pooey.”

Carl is survived by the mother of his children, Heather Parsons; his children – Natasha (Mike) Magliaro, Greg (Vanessa), and Michelle Parsons (Trever); his grandchildren – Jayden, Breaha, Landon, Channing, Lane, Lynleigh, Macie, and Miles; his siblings – Tim (Elizabeth), Wayne (Sandy), Doug, Violet Haycox, Phyllis Yurczyszyn, Valerie Brown (Gerry), Donna Podetz (Terry); sisters-in-law Jean Cann and Cecilia Parsons; Many nieces and nephews, especially Little Joe; longtime friends John McClymont and Carol Smart; His best fur buddy, Rocky.

Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by his brothers - Joseph and Cecil; sisters – Bertha Hastie, Darlene Russell, Marie (Ron) Smith, Alice Hickey; in-laws – Greg Podetz, Tommy Haycox, Harry Yurczyszyn, and Sharon Parsons.

A visitation for Carl will be held from 12 to 1:30p.m. on Friday, January 12 at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will follow on the same day at 2p.m. at the St. Joseph Church in North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
