Carmel Delores (Sullivan) Albert

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmel Delores Albert (Sullivan), on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the age of 53.  Carmel was born on November 23, 1971, in Glace Bay, NS to Oswald and Mary (nee Currie) Sullivan. 

Carmel was the oldest of three daughters and had lived in many places over the years with her husband and son. Before returning to Canada, Carmel called Slidell, Louisiana home for many years. Her and Jake built a warm and loving home for their son Anthony.

Carmel is survived by her son Anthony Albert, sisters, Valerie (Brian) MacDonald and nephews Noah and Dylan, North Sydney and Shauna (James) Wells and nephews Hunter and Ryder, Lake Echo, and by many members of her Sullivan and Currie family.  

Carmel was predeceased by her beloved husband Jacob Albert in 2020, as well as her parents, grandparents and many other family members. 

She was widely known for her infectious laugh which made others smile.  She was often found crafting or spending time with her pride and joy Anthony and their beloved fur babies Charlie, Cain and Abby.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a fund established for Anthony’s continuing education. Donations can be sent to ajeducationfund@gmail.com.  Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
