Carol Jackman Obituary

Carol Ann Jackman

North Sydney

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Jackman, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great friend on Saturday, October 16, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Born in Sydney, Carol was the eldest daughter of the late Camillus and Viola (MacGillivray) Currie.  Carol was a graduate of Normal College in Truro and was a passionate teacher who loved what she did.  She loved politics and was engaged in provincial and federal politics throughout her life.  Carol was a former member of the Board of Directors for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and was a dedicated volunteer for North Sydney Bar 90 Days for many years.  Carol enjoyed her summers entertaining and gardening in Georges River, where lots of fun and laughter always occurred.  She was a fantastic host and especially enjoyed hosting the annual Christmas party for her team “Nanny Carol’s Angels”.  Her sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by everyone.  Carol tended to be the life of the party!

Of all things she loved, spending time with her grandchildren was what brought her the most joy, never missing a basketball or hockey game.  She was so proud to be called “Nanny Carol”.

Carol is survived by her only daughter Terrilee (Stephen) Robinson, her precious grandchildren Aunalee (Charlie) and Graham (Rebecca).  Also surviving is her twin sister Camilla Currie, sisters Donna (Mark) MacIver, Sara (Jim) Chaulk and Millie Currie, brother-in-law Brian (Karen) Jackman.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will very much miss their “Aunt Toe Toe”

Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband and life long dance partner Terry, brother Hugh in infancy and nephew Shaun Camillus Farrell.

Visitation for Carol will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating.  Covid-19 restrictions will be in place at the funeral home and the church with Proof of Vaccine, NS Government ID and wearing of masks.  Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.  In lieu of flowers, spread kindness and do something for others, spend time with someone in need.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
