Catherine “Kay” Beeson

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Catherine “Kay” May Beeson, age 91, on Friday October 1, 2021 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Estmere, NS, August 20, 1930, Kay was the daughter of the late George and Vera (Oakley) Fisher. She operated Kay’s Dairy on Pleasant Street, North Sydney for a number of years. Following the death of her first husband James F. Rahey, she moved to Blues Mills where she lived for several years, returning to North Sydney to take up residence at the Northside Community Guest Home. While in Blues Mills, she was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Whycocomagh, NS.
Kay is survived by her daughters; May Peach, Sydney Mines, Elizabeth “Debbie” Rahey, North Sydney, her son; George (Pauline) Rahey, Georges River, grandchildren; Samantha (Nathan) Clark, Angie Crane, Craig Rahey, Peggy (Alan) McCartney and Jeff Peach, by a number of great grandchildren, her sisters; Georgina MacLeod, Estmere and Alice MacLellan, St. Patrick’s Channel, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Kay was predeceased by her first husband James F. Rahey, her sisters; Judy MacKinnon, Verna MacRae and Nellie MacKinnon.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for the excellent care given to Kay, while she was a resident there.
By request there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
