It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Catherine Steele, age 74, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on December 12, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Beulah (Ivey) Steele.  Catherine worked as a sales associate for NSLC, retiring after 36 years of service.  She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 8, Sydney Mines.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Catherine is survived by her partner Donald Harris, her son Harold James Steele, and her step-children Donald Harris, Troy Harris (Sherry), Keith Harris (Karla) and Raylene Harris (Rick).  She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her brother Russell Steele.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 6th, at Holy Cross Cemetery with Michael Connolly officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
