It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family announce the passing of Catherine “Cathy” Robinson, age 71, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Inverness on May 10, 1948, Cathy was the daughter of the late John and Rebecca “Sofie” (Richardson) MacPherson. Cathy lived in Toronto for many years where she worked for Sears, gave birth to her son, and met her husband. She was known fondly as the “Toronto Mom” to the many friends and relatives from Cape Breton arriving for work, whom Cathy and Walter hosted while living in the big city. After 35 years in Toronto they moved back to Cape Breton to be closer to their families whom they loved dearly.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Walter Robinson; son Bryan (Susanne) MacPherson; her pride and joy, granddaughter Rebecca MacPherson; her special niece Cheryl (Darren) Canning, as well as grandniece Morgan and her little buddy, great-grandnephew Hunter; sisters-in-law, Naomi (Lawrence) Boutilier, Cora (Ronnie) Shaw, Janie (Roger Quirk), all of North Sydney; brother-in-law, Joe (Diana) Robinson, Ohio, as well as many other nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Besides her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her sister, Mary MacPherson; brother, Alan MacPherson; her mother and father-in-law, Fred and Ethel Robinson; brothers in law, Freddie, Clayton, Ronnie, Leo, Alex, Jackie, as well as her sister-in-law, Bonnie.     

There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass for Cathy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Leo Cordeau officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
