Cecily MacDonald
Florence N.S.
It is with the largest amount of sadness that we announce the passing of sweet Cecily Elizabeth MacDonald on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. She was the greatest joy to be with, and was always there to be loving and kind. Cecily was a lover of drawing, playing teacher, playing with her stuffed animals, and watching movies. Most of all she enjoyed long drives with her mom and all the unbelievable times she had with those she loved. Even though Cecily had her life cut short, she lived it to the absolute fullest of her abilities.
Cecily is survived by her mother Emma MacDonald, Cape Breton - her father Shan Haneefa, India - her best friend forever Lana LeBlanc, Sydney Mines - grandmother Mary Marple (Tom), Big Bras d’Or – great-grandmother Margaret Marple, North Sydney - grandparents Mohammed and Eneesa Haneefa, India - uncle Graham MacDonald (Kate), Big Bras d’Or - aunt and uncle Hanna and Bryden Orrell, New Glasgow - aunt Nisha Nizar and cousin Isaah Nizar, Ireland - along with relatives and friends who adored her from all over the world. Cecily was predeceased by her great-grandfather Earl Marple, North Sydney, and great-grandparents Cecil and Helen MacDonald, Sydney Mines.
A visitation for Cecily will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30 at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant Street in North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 at the St. James Presbyterian Church in Big Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
