It is with great sadness that we the family of Charles Stephen Reid wish to announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at the age of 67, at An Cala Palliative Care in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Charles was born in North Sydney on June 30 1954, the third of 7 children to the late Hepburn and Doris (Clarke) Reid.  Charles will be remembered for his sense of humor and his big smile, he could always make you laugh if you were having a bad day.  In his younger years Charles liked to hunt and fish and was very handy at fixing computers. He was employed at National Sea and in later years was employed with the Autistic Society.

Charles is survived his brothers Tom (Marion), Jack (Beverly), both of North Sydney, Kevin (Florence), his sister Debbie Bell (Sandy), both of Sydney Mines, special niece Melissa McCarthy, Sydney Mines, grand-nephew Adrian Dunphy, who Charles considered a grandson and many other nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Wendy in March of 2021, his daughter Alecia in October 1995, his brother Reggie in 2019 and sister Brenda in infancy.

The family would like to thank the nurses, the VON staff and Palliative Care for your care and compassion over the past number of weeks. 

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation for Charles will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Marjorie Serafinus officiating. Covid 19 protocol regarding proof of double vaccination along with photo ID as well as the wearing of masks will be enforced.
