Charles Alexander “Alex” Oickle

It is with sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Charles Alexander “Alex” Oickle, age 76, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his home.
Born in North Sydney on January 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles and Rebecca (MacKenzie) Oickle. Alex worked in construction for many years and owned and operated Northside Drywall. He loved fishing and playing his guitar and in his earlier years he was very involved with the Salvation Army Church.
Alex is survived by his daughter Tanya Oickle (Jaspal), his grandchildren Andrew Oickle; Devyani, Simryn and Jevyn Mancoo; John, Christopher and Stephanie Timbury; Brianna and Dylan Parks; step-grandchildren Jenna, Kristin, Robert, Kyle, Emily, Ryan and Justin Reynolds; his sisters Donna (John) Anderson and Betty Lou (Robert) Gullage.
Besides his parents, Alex was predeceased by his wife Patsy Oickle, his son John Alex Parks, his brothers James “Jimmy” Oickle, Walter Myers, his sisters Dorothy and Joy Oickle.
The family would like to thank Dr. Poulos and Dr. Burns, VON, Homecare, Palliative Care nurses and a special thank you to his caregivers Carol Tanner and Crista Gullage.
A funeral service for Alex will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Pastor James MacLellan officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and Hospice Palliative Care Society.
