Sanford Boutilier

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Sanford Boutilier, age 83, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, at the Northside General Hospital on April 24, 2023, with his family by his side.
Born in North Sydney on December 31, 1939, Sanford was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Irene (Leblanc) Boutilier. Sanford worked for over 30 years at the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal. He was a humble man who was well-liked and respected by his co-workers as well as his neighbours and friends along the Gannon Rd. where he lived all his life.
Sanford is survived by his children, Wendy (Darrin) McGean, Barrie, ON, Brian, North Bay, ON, Wanda Ford, Sydney Mines, and Stewart (Nicole) BC.; his grandchildren Jessica, Victoria, Nathan, Brianna, Kali, Vanessa, Logan, Annabella, and Benjamin; his siblings Russell, ON, Adrian (Dolores), BC, and Floyd (Harriett), North Sydney, along with many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to make special mention of Bill Ford, Lynn MacNeil, good friend and nephew Stan Boutilier, as well as all his wonderful neighbours.
Besides his parents, Sanford was predeceased by his wife, Dianne (Woods), as well as siblings Joseph, Blair, and Geraldine Boutilier.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at the Northside General Hospital and Dr. Eugene Ignacio.
In honouring Sanford’s life and legacy, all are welcome to attend a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney, with Deacon Dave Lewis officiating. The service will be live-streamed through the funeral home Facebook page. Burial will follow at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Online condolences may be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
