It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Constance Nickerson, age 100, on Friday October 14, 2022 at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on June 1, 1922, Constance was the daughter of the late Arthur and Loretta Mae (Clark) Ellis. She lived in Saint John for seventy years before moving to Cape Breton. She was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Saint John, where she was an active volunteer and member of the Ladies Church Guild. Upon moving to Cape Breton, Constance continued volunteering becoming the secretary of the North Sydney Food Bank and serving on the Christmas Cheer Fund committee. She was a member of St John the Baptist Anglican Church, Constance was an animal lover and enjoyed knitting, making several beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren.

Constance is survived by her daughter Sharon (Joe) Salter, Sydney Mines, son Peter (Iris) Nickerson, Sydney Mines, sister Althea Barlow, Fredericton, grandchildren Sara (Donald) Salter Burke, New Waterford, Ranada (Isaac), Cory Nickerson (Sarah), both in Saint John, Joseph “Joey” (Sherisse) Salter, New Hampshire, Kathryn Nickerson (Anthony), Saint John, James (Amelia) Nickerson, Edmonton, also by seven great grandchildren, special niece Gay (Kerry) Fitzgerald, Annapolis, daughter-in-law Darlene (Neil) Franklin, nephews Richard (Esther) and William (Jennifer) Stratton, both of Ottawa.

Besides her parents Constance was predeceased by her husband Malcolm Nickerson and by her son Robert Nickerson.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 2West at the Northside General Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care shown to Constance and the family.

A graveside service will be held 11 am Saturday, October 29th at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the North Sydney Food Bank. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
