David Ivey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Ivey, age 82, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (MacIsaac) Ivey. Dave was employed in Ontario for a number of years before returning home to North Sydney in 1974, where he worked in maintenance at National Sea Products until his retirement. Dave was very active following his retirement. He enjoyed camping with family, dancing at the North Sydney Seniors and Pensioners Club, volunteering his time with fund raising events for the needy and could be spotted walking with his brother Don to Sydney Mines every evening. He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church in North Sydney.
Dave is survived by his four children, Edythe Parks-Murrin, Kitchener, ON; Robert (Mary) Ivey, Tavistock, Ontario; David (Ruth Ann) Ivey, North Sydney; Lisa (Darren) Fennell, Sydney Mines; nine grandchildren, Kristen, Shannon, David, Mike, Mary-Lyn, Robyn, Paul, Blayre, Breton and by eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Thelma Scott, Betty Marsh, Mary (Joe) Skinner, Linda (Lorne) Skinner; brothers, Terry (Marilyn) Ivey, Russell Ivey; sisters-in-law, Louise Ivey, Bertha Ivey and brother-in-law, Peter (Susan) Anderson.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Anderson) Ivey in March of 2020; four brothers, Lou, Bill, Don, Wayne and his sister Peg.
Visitation for Dave will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Covid-19 restrictions regarding the wearing of masks and proof of vaccination will be in place. A graveside service will take place 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the SPCA.
