It is with heavy hearts that we the family, announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Deborah June “Debbie” (Millard) MacDonald, age 68, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in North Sydney on July 25, 1954, Debbie was the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Whittle) Millard and the beloved wife of the late David MacDonald, the love of her life.

Debbie leaves to mourn, her sister Doris (Wilson deceased) Hatcher, her brother Robert (Darlene) Millard and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.

Besides her parents and her husband David, Debbie was predeceased by her brother William “Billy”, her nephew Robert Millard, niece Denise Warren Hatcher, her mother and father-in-law Pearl (Hillier) and Raymond MacDonald.

Debbie was known for her kind heart, unconditional love for her family and her 52 years of dedication to the Cape Breton County Exhibition 4H Club.  Aunt Debbie was always there with a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. 

A visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street North Sydney.  A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
