It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Delia Doreen Hastie, age 72, on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at her home in Georges River.
Born in Sydney, on January 16, 1951, Delia was the daughter of the late Charles and Joan (MacMullin) MacDonald. Delia was a dedicated French teacher retiring from Dr. T.L. Sullivan Junior High.
Delia was about family and friends. Always ready for the next adventure whether driving her own Harley Davidson, sailing the British Virgin Islands or on a back road in the country on an ATV. Once her boys finished college her adventures took her to places such as the Badlands of South Dakota and the Devils Tower in Wyoming. Her favorite place on this earth was spending time with her family at the cottage, in Kempt Head. She was an avid walker and kayaking was her favorite pastime.
Delia is survived by her husband, Thomas “Tom” Hastie; her two sons Christopher Hastie (Clare), Yellowknife and Alexander Hastie, Ingonish; sisters Eliza (Stan) Powell, Barrington Passage, Colleen (Keith) Pierrynowski, Dartmouth; brothers Teddy MacDonald and Darrell MacMullin; sister-in-law Faye MacDonald, Sydney, along with many nieces, nephews and fur baby Harley.
Besides her parents, Delia was predeceased by a brother Alex MacDonald.
Per Delia’s wishes there will be no funeral services cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
