It is with broken hearts and devastation that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Crane, age 57, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Born in Sydney, November 9, 1965, Donna was the daughter of Helen (Tremblett) and the late William Crane.  Donna loved to spend time with family and friends, often while enjoying a good cup of tea.  She treasured many leisure hours with the love of her life, James, and her grand fur-baby, Zola. She enjoyed adding to her endless dolphin collection and watching her favorite television shows - Chicago Med and The Good Doctor.  Some of her favorite pastimes were walking, spending time at the Casino, picking blueberries with Kathleen (her mother-in-law) on warm summer days and of course, many hours of Facebook games.  Growing up, Donna and her sisters were very close, always playing games together, such as their favorite hide-and-seek.  She and Nancy even dressed like twins until they were 10 years old.

Donna’s pride and joy was her daughter Alisha. She was always the mother out playing with the children of the neighborhood, keeping them all safe and entertained with her fun-loving spirit. As her daughter grew up, their bond remained unconditional - she beamed with pride with each of her accomplishments and always voiced how proud she truly was of the young lady she raised. 

Donna is survived by her partner of over 30 years, James Baker, her daughter Alisha (Cody) Baker, her mother Helen (Tremblett) Crane, sisters Nancy (Butch) Sheppard, Toronto, Shirley Gardener, New Waterford, Joanne (Victor) Walker, Sydney, and step-mother Toni Crane.

She was predeceased by her father William Crane, brother-in-law Dave, and parents-in-law Kathleen and James Baker.

The family would like to thank Dr. Archibald and the staff in the ICU, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Donna will be held from 2 – 4 p.m., on Wednesday, April 5th, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, at 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral service will directly follow at 4 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating.
