Doris Beddow Obituary

Doris Amelia Beddow

Big Bras d’Or

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Beddow, age 85, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.

Born in Big Bras d’Or on March 12, 1937, Doris was the daughter of the late Stillman and Hannah (Dunlap) Kaiser. She was employed at the Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck for 25 years where her kind and gentle manner was a great support to seniors. She was an avid reader, an excellent baker, loved sewing, knitting, gardening and enjoyed shopping for bargains, especially handbags. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren, whether doing crafts, watching movies or watching wrestling. Mom had a great sense of humor, enjoyed going for long drives that included stops for ice cream, visiting wildlife parks, and feeding the birds. Brandi, her cockatiel can attest.

She is survived by her three daughters; Marlene (Eric) Broderick, Lawrencetown; Kathy (Al) Bond, North Sydney; Bev (Dan) Jessome, Fall River; her grandchildren Nicholas Bond, Linden, Haley and Michaela Jessome; two great-grandchildren Lennon and Remi; her brother Stanley Kaiser, Ontario; her sister Shirley (Carl) MacRae, Georges River, and several other nieces and a nephew.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her infant son, David.

We extend to the staff of Twin Oaks Hospital, Musquodoboit and to the staff of Dartmouth General Hospital our gratitude for exemplary care of our Mom (Emergency Departments and 4E, respectively).

At her request there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Big Bras d’Or with immediate family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

We love you Mom, and will miss you always.
