It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Annie Lucky (Gray) Bissett, age 76, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister on Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.  Born in Perth Andover, New Brunswick on August 27, 1946, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Moffatt and Mildred (Jones) Gray.

She was the loving wife of George “Geordie” Bissett, mother to Carolyn (Billy) and Stephen Bissett, grandmother to Adrian Bissett (Ashley), Logan Bissett (Danielle) and Jamie Lee Visser (Casey); great-grandmother to Chase, Cameron, Kelsey and River Rose.

She is also survived by her sister Joy Fraser, who loved her and kept in contact with her throughout her sickness. She was also survived by sisters Emma Gay Tizzard, Vivian MacLean, Diane Gray-Smith and her brother Moffatt Gray, sisters-in-law Patsy Smith, Marilyn and Donna Bissett, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Moffatt and Mildred Gray and her sister Debbie Gray, brothers-in-law John “Jackie” and Clarence “Chuck” Bissett, Robert Smith.

Dorothy was a strong and tough woman who loved her family with all her heart. She had a strong desire for crocheting, reading, crime drama shows, drives in the country and family gatherings. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Thanks go out to all the staff at Taigh Solas at the Northside General Hospital and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

By Dorothy's own request there will be no wake or funeral. A family graveside gathering will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
