It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, “Nana Edie”, sister and friend, Edith Louise MacIsaac, age 62, on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in North Sydney, August 2, 1959, Edith was a daughter of the late George and Louise (Leyte) Burt. Edith provided care for others for over fifteen years as a Continuing Care Worker with Cape Breton County Home Makers. She was an avid bingo player, loved to travel and made the best coconut cream pie. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and the many children of her extended family and friends, who lovingly referred to her as “Nana Edie”.

Edith is survived by her husband of 38 years Allister MacIsaac, children; Dwayne MacIsaac (Tracy), Florence, Christa MacIsaac, at home, Brian (Ashley) MacIsaac, Moncton, grandchildren; Connor, Colby, Chloe and Julia, brother; Harry (Christine) Burt, Sydney Mines, sisters; Linda Burt (Kevin), Mary Lou Burt, both of North Sydney, Cathy (Art) Rose, Kitchener, ON; mother-in-law; Peggy MacIsaac, sisters-n-law; Diane (Lloyd) Gillis, Sharon (Eric) MacLeod, Cecilia (Willis) Ayres, Maureen MacIsaac (David), Winnifred Burt, brothers-in-law; Darrell MacIsaac (Leona), Martin MacIsaac (Tracey), Joe Simpson, Wayne King and Glen Boutilier, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Edie will also be sadly missed by her best friend Kelly Oake.

 

Besides her parents Edith was predeceased by brothers; George and Walter Burt, sisters; Margaret Simpson and Carol Boutilier, father-in-law; Martin MacIsaac, brother-in-law; Roddie MacIsaac, sister-in-law; Martina King.

By request there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating.  Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.

Covid-19 protocols will be followed at the church with the wearing of masks, social distancing and limited seating available. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
