Edward Berkeley Harris

December 10, 1979 ~ January 5, 2022 (age 42)

Edward “Eddie” Harris

North Sydney

On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, after a long dark battle with depression, we lost our son and brother Eddie, who we loved dearly.

Born in North Sydney on December 10, 1979, Eddie was the son of Edward and Donna (Keeping) Harris.

Eddie had a smile that could light up a room.  He was always great at making us laugh and he leaves us with some very beautiful memories.  While Eddie struggled to find the good in himself, he loved his family with all his heart and always wanted the best for the ones he loved.  He loved spending time with his parents, playing cards or dice. He had a passion for music, and loved to play his guitar, and especially enjoyed jamming with his brother and sister. He had a natural talent for carpentry and put pride into his work. His playful personality and his love for children was so evident to see, and the kids would always have the best time if uncle Ed was around. He cherished spending time with his grandmother, Gwen Keeping, watching the game and cheering on their favorite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Eddie leaves behind his 4 beautiful children, Brodie, Parker, Breanna, and Alana, who he thought the world of, his parents, Ed and Donna, his brother and best friend Taylor, his sister Melissa (Colin), his grandmother, Gwen Keeping, and his nephews and niece Tristan, Chase, and Rebecca who adored every minute spent with their fun loving uncle.  He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Edward and Nina Harris, by his maternal grandfather Berkeley Keeping, his uncle Berkeley Keeping, and cousin Jason Keeping.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at

His nephew Tristan wrote this letter for him, and it sums up how we all feel:

“I really wish you knew how much everyone cared about you man, and that you could overcome your dark spots in life no matter how rough it got.  I know things have been tough and I could tell it was really hurting you inside, but it could have all been worked on.  I know you'll never get to see this Eddie but I love you man, writing this with tears bottled up because I just can't let it out right now.  I hope you're in a better place as I write this, I hope you're at peace with yourself.  The world is going to be a lot different without you and you were a big part of this family.  I love you Eddie”. Love Tristan
