Edward Joseph Skinner

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, Edward Joseph Skinner age 66, on Friday March 17, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, July 20, 1956, Edward was the eldest son of Catherine and the late Edward James Skinner of North Sydney. He served 20 years with the Canadian Armed Forces. After his retirement from the forces he worked on the Cobequid pass highway as a commissionaire then spent a few years working as a truck driver in Alberta. Ed was an avid fisherman and a true family man who loved spending time with his mother, wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
Besides his mother, Edward is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Skinner; his son Troy Joseph (Tania) Skinner and their children Keegan, Cadin, and Briar; his daughter Tanya (Gordon) Spencer and their children Emily, Lily, Olivia, and Callie; sisters Georgy Leigh(Reagan Hnetka), Susanne (Bryan) MacPherson; brothers Billy (Shawna) and Peter (Lisa) Skinner, also by fourteen nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend a special Thank You to uncle Bill Timbury for always being there for Eddie.
Edward was predeceased by his father Edward Sr., a brother Alan Skinner, a nephew Jamie, mother and father in law Mary and Sam and sister in law Theresa
By request there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 2 P.M. on Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney with Rev James MacLellan officiating. Following the funeral service, a reception will be held in the church hall. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
