Edward "Teddy" Whitty Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear brother, father, uncle and nephew, Edward “Teddy” Albert Whitty, on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 57.

Teddy was born in North Sydney on September 26, 1967, to the late Edna Whitty. Teddy enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved fishing, hunting and outdoor activities. For years he drove taxi for Briands Taxi. Teddy was a hockey fan and would spend each season cheering for the Montreal Canadians. He had a special place in his life for his dog, Layla, who was his pride and joy.

Teddy is survived by his children Chandler, T.J., Eddie and Crystal; siblings: Rachel and George; grandchildren; Dominic, Kayia, Michael, Preston and Briar; Teddy is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Teddy was predeceased by his sister Karen Bona, grandson Lincoln Forrest and nephew Stephen Whitty.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on 4b, 4d and Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Thank you to homecare who provided such personal care for Teddy.

A funeral service will be held at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11 am, with Deacon David Lewis officiating.
