It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Elizabeth “Lee” White, age 85, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care in Sydney.

Born in Florence, on September 27, 1933, Lee was the daughter of the late Maurice and Florence (Jessome) Edwards.  She was an avid bingo player, loved dancing and enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Cape Dauphin.  Lee loved children and throughout her life she was the babysitter for many of her nieces and nephews.  Not having any children of her own, she prided herself in having a hand in raising them.  She was a faithful and active member of St. Stephen Church in Florence and her strong faith was very important to her.

Lee is survived by her brother Gerald (Georgie) Edwards, Sydney Mines, special niece and caregiver Julie (Thomas) Carey and many other nieces and nephews that she loved and treated as her own. 

She was predeceased by her husband Jack White, her siblings Mildred McPhee, Muriel “Moonie” Skinner, Jenny MacDonald, Joseph “Butch” Edwards, Margie Edwards, Gordon Edwards, Freddie Edwards, Raymond Edwards, Cyril Edwards and Carolyn White.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Hickey and the wonderful staff of MacDougall Court at Harbourstone Enhanced Care in Sydney.

Visitation for Lee will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines with her nephew Rev. Conrad Edwards and Rev. James Oliver officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Florence.
