Ernest Tremblett

Georges River

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Ernest Lawrence Tremblett, age 78, on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney Mines on February 12, 1945, Ernest grew up on Ocean Street in Sydney Mines and was the son of the late Sidney and Ella Mae (LeBlanc) Tremblett. In his younger years Ernie discovered his love for the water and left Sydney Mines to sail on the Great Lakes. After his time sailing, “Little Ernie” spent forty years working construction finishing his career with Joneljim Construction, where he was a hard worker, made lifelong friendships and was known to be the first guy on site and the last one off. In his retirement, Ernie went back to spending his time on the water, fishing, boating and combing the beach. Throughout his lifetime Ernest was a man of faith, attending St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or and St. Joseph Church in North Sydney.

Ernest is survived by his daughter Monica (David) Grandy, his son James (Tanya) Tremblett who will miss their “Daddy” forever. He adored his grandchildren; Tyler, Brendan, Samantha, Kristen and Jaymee Lynn, Ashley and great granddaughter Livvie; his companion; Frances Bradley  He is also survived by his brothers Terry (Sandra) and Paul (Cathy Ann) Tremblett, and sisters Shirley Hawkins, Carol Ann (Al Johnson), Donna (Joe Gerrow) and Colleen (Peter Harrietha).  Ernest is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including John “Hawk” Hawkins with whom he had a special bond. Ernie will also be missed by his fishing buddy Donnie Steele and “Marie”. The grass is already growing longer at the land in Long Island, his favorite spot.
