It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Evelyn Mae Anderson, age 82, on Friday November 13, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Tarbot Vale, Victoria County, October 2, 1938, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Dan J. and Margaret (MacLeod) Shaw. She was predeceased by her husband Elliott Anderson in 2016.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Donna (Ivan) Buchanan, Calgary, son Ray (Wanda) Anderson, Belle Cote, NS, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Evelyn had many friends, family and loved ones who she enjoyed spending her time with. She especially loved visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending many hours telling stories, sharing her dry sense of humour and a cup of tea or celebrating a special occasion. Evelyn had lots of meaningful relationships with neighbours in her Moulton Ave community where she resided for many years. She spoke and visited with many of them on a regular basis.

Evelyn shared her joy of the outdoors and fishing with her husband Elliott and her close family and friends. She also had a special love for many wild and domestic furry and feathered animal friends which she cared for through her days.

Many thanks to the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for their care and compassion with Evelyn over the past two years. Also a special thank you to Lynn Yetman, Evelyn’s care giver and friend, and an expression of gratitude to the staff of the An Cala Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, for their incredible support of Evelyn and her family through her final days.

By her request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
