Evelyn Green Obituary

Evelyn Joan Green

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of our rock, Evelyn Joan Green. Evie passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. She died peacefully at the Northside General Hospital in the company of her loving husband and her son who she affectionately referred to as “The Boy”.

It would be wrong to say that Evie lost her battle with Cancer because she never once stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Evie stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in her. Only strength and grace. She may no longer be with us, but it does not mean she lost her fight.
To know Evie was to love her. She cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was as a person. She was always the first to offer help. If it could be done, Evie would do it.

Evie was a strong presence in her community, she set the bar for “Hockey Moms”, volunteering many years at the rink and behind the scenes with minor hockey. She was so proud of her work as a residential care worker and treated the residents like her own.

Evie always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, happy and spoiled rotten. It brought her so much joy to decorate her house for the holidays, especially Christmas, knowing it would bring so much magic and excitement to the kids and families driving by!

More than anything, Evie loved to go fishing with Edwin. They would take off for the day, in the boat, and Evie would sit for hours waiting to catch “Bubba!” She also loved to cook and there wasn’t a soul who didn’t love to eat what she made. Her grandkids would often remark that they could taste the love in her turkey dinner!
Evie loved to craft and was always making something. As a result, we are all very fortunate to have so many cherished handmade treasures that will keep her memory alive and our hearts full. An extraordinary woman who was as strong as she was kind. Here’s to you Evie. We love you and will miss you beyond measure!

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; Horace and Marie Bonnar (Newman).
Evie is survived by her loving husband James Edwin Green, son Robert Green (Bobbi Jo), daughter Angela Green (Owen), son Joey Green, daughter Tracy Green, the little ones who call her Nan- Jack, Riley, Charley, Lucas, Avery and Evan and many nieces and nephews.

The family is deeply grateful to the nurses and staff at the Northside General Hospital for their care and compassion and to Ron and Ann Bonnar, Jeanette and Wally (recently decreased) Russel, Milton and Donna Bonnar for always being an amazing source of love and support.
Cremation has taken place and Evie will come home with her family to her paradise on earth- her cabin at Bonnar’s Wharf. A small intimate celebration of life will take place at the family’s discretion.
