We the family of Florence (Donovan) Wilson said good bye to our loving mother on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Hospice Cape Breton. She was 85 years old.

Mom was born in North Sydney on September 23, 1937 to the late John and Josephine (Philip) Donovan. Mom was a dedicated mother of six surviving children: Greg (Patricia), Ronnie (Corie), Cathy (Paul), Cheryl (Rich), Jane (Darren), and Andrew.  Mom is further survived by her extra special sister, Mary Gillis. She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney.   

She is predeceased by her first loving husband Tommy (Buddy) Shaw, her second love and husband Angus Wilson, her sister Katie, her brothers Joe and Danny, her infant great-granddaughter Molly, and her very best friend Loni. 

Special thanks to those who helped us care for mom over the past few years, VON, CB Cancer Center, (her sitters) from Home First, Michele and Kim, and the heartfelt staff at Hospice Cape Breton. 

A funeral mass for Florence will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.  Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.

Memorial Donations can be made in memory of Florence to Hospice Cape Breton or to Our Lady of The Miraculous Medal Parish (which mom was very passionate about). Online condolences may be left for the family by visiting the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
