Florence "Faye" Ester (Farrell) Keeping

We, the family, wish to announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Florence Esther (Farrell) Keeping, which occurred on May 10, 2019 in Kingston, ON.  She was 88.

Born in North Sydney on April 30, 1931, Faye was the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (Hare) Farrell.

While living in North Sydney, mom was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, was a volunteer for the breast cancer support group and the Bartown Festival.  She was a two-time breast cancer survivor, and an avid dragon boater in Cape Breton and Kingston, where she lived her final years.

Faye is survived by her daughters Esta Dalziel (Steve), and Zenith Keeping (Peter Fedora); cherished grandchildren Jillian Dalziel (Mitch Thompson) and Andrew Dalziel (Emma Chiasson), along with great-grandchildren Harriet and Jack Thompson and Lola and Louie Dalziel.  She will always be remembered by her special niece Bev Simmons, along with nephew Abbey and his wife Jeannie Keeping; also, her other many nieces and nephews, and fellow dragon boaters.

Besides her parents, Faye was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Keeping Jr., her siblings Zenith Caswell, Frederick Farrell Jr., Elizabeth (Betty) Bent, and Milton Farrell.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A graveside service for Faye will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, with Marjorie Serafinus officiating and under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Clansman Motel where refreshments will be offered. Online condolences may be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
