Frederick Yurczyszyn Obituary

Frederick Yurczyszyn

North Sydney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Fred Yurczyszyn. A loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, on Friday, March 12, 2021, at the Halifax Infirmary, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Stenton) Yurczyszyn. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers William and Harold Yurczyszyn.

Fred worked for many years with National Sea Products in North Sydney, after which he worked for several private security companies in the area until his retirement.

Fred was a loving father who adored spending time with his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and family. He was thoughtful, considerate of others and was generous with his time.

He was an avid fisherman, loved spending time on Jimmy’s farm and loved dancing to Elvis. He lived life with a strong value to protect those he loved and cared for and was often found giving a helping hand wherever he could.

Fred is survived by his two sons, Fred of Thorold, ON; Jason (Kathy), St Catharines, ON and their mother Helen; his two daughters, Summer and Mariah, his best friend - loving caregiver, Jackie Whitty and his adored cousin and friend, Allie Arsenault. Fred is also survived by his three grandchildren, Brett, Kaitlyn and Janelle; three brothers, Frank (Bev) Yurczyszyn, Michael (Sissy) Yurczyszyn, all of North Sydney; Jimmy (Linda), Yurczyszyn, Frenchvale; five sisters, Ardel (Dave) MacPherson, Halifax; Barbara (Wayne) Jackson and Brenda Yurczyszyn, both of Ball’s Creek; Phyllis (Lloyd) MacLeod, North Sydney; Jeanette Yurczyszyn (Kevin LeBlanc), Alder Point and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Fred will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 2021, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Covid-19 protocol regarding the wearing of masks, social distancing and limited capacity will be in place.

A funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. There will be limited seating at the church.

For those who are not able to attend in person, are invited to do so virtually by joining the event listed on the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Facebook page.

Burial will take place at a later date in St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchvale.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com

Fred wanted nothing more than to provide a good, stable life for his children. He saw this through for his adult boys, but his girls are still young and in need of much care, thoughtfulness and prayers.

A Limb Has Fallen...

A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me”. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song; the good life lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest, remembering all and how I was truly blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t just stare at the wall.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin; until the day comes, we’re together again.
