We regret to announce, with broken hearts and profound sadness, the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and son, Gary Survine White, on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

Gary was born April 8, 1958 in Sydney Mines, the first-born child of George (deceased) and Margaret (MacMullin) White. Gary was well known around the island for his work as a professional painter and gyprock filler, a career that began with his father George and his brother Greg, and which spanned over 40 years. Gary was a very talented man who could turn his hand to anything. Gary loved to be on the water swimming, boating, and fishing. He also loved hunting and driving his four-wheeler.

Gary is survived by his wife, Raylene; twin sons Matthew and Michael (Madison), son David and daughter Kayla (Matthew); grandchildren Madelynn and Lucas. Gary is further survived by his brothers, Greg (Diane), and Sheldon (Michelle); sisters, Jennifer (Freddie), and Nicole (Alex), as well as sister in-law, Pauline Hopkins. He will also be dearly missed by his in-laws, the Ivey family – mother-in-law, Francis (Mike), brothers-in-law – Billy (Marie), John (Janice), Robert (Cecilia), and sisters-in-law – Helen (Burt), Shelia, and Katie (Stewart).

Gary was predeceased by his father, George; his brother, Curtis; his sister, Irene, as well as one brother in infancy. He was also predeceased by his father in law, William (June) Ivey.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Greg and Diane as well as Nicole and Alex for always being there with Gary, day and night, to support him through his illness. Your love for your brother truly shined through.

A visitation will be held for Gary from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, followed immediately by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the W. J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, at 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Covid-19 restrictions regarding limited seating, social distancing, and the wearing of masks at all times will be strictly followed.
