Harold Collier Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we, the family, announce the passing of our brother, uncle and friend, Harold Gordon Collier, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 75.

Born in North Sydney on April 16, 1949, Harold was the son of the late Mabel Warren (Allen), and step father Mansel Warren.

Harold lived in his hometown his entire life.  He worked for Marine Atlantic for an astounding 54 years, starting at age sixteen, and working his way up the stevedore list to #1, which he often bragged about.   Harold enjoyed going to the casino, and anyone who knew him, often saw him driving his car throughout town - something that he loved to do.

Harold is survived by his best friend Bobby “Blacky” Benac, his sisters Arthena LeMoine, Jeannie (Paul) Jenkins, brothers Arthur and David (Annie) Warren.  He is also survived by his nieces Heather and Lisa, and Alana LeMoine, and nephews Michael and Greg.

Besides his mother and step-father, Harold was predeceased by his brother Allan.

Special thanks to Dr. Alexander Wawer, and the many VON nurses who cared for Harold with such concern, and always with a kind word and reassuring smile, and to Palliative Care Doctors: George Burns, Brendan McCarville, Charlene Fitzgerald and John Ridder.  Julia Penney, Palliative Care Nurse, your compassion and humor were much appreciated. Harold was always more peaceful after your visits. Many thanks.

There will be a private family service.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Online condolences can be left for the family by leaving a message on the tribute page of the obituary at www.wjdooley.com.
