Harold M. Skinner
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harold Matthew Skinner, dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
Born in North Sydney he was the son of the late William and Bernadette (Smith) Skinner.
Harold was a welder by trade and worked for many years with Lavatte Construction, until a workplace injury forced him to retire. He was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 793.
Harold enjoyed spending time with family at his cabin in Ingonish.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Georgina (Andrews) Skinner; his daughter Joella (Graham) Pye, Sydney Mines; son Sheldon (Brenda Penny), North Sydney; by his grandchildren, Derek and Marc (Jeanette) Pye; great-grandchildren Colby and Eithan; by his brothers, Joe (Mary) Skinner, Lorne (Linda) Skinner, both of North Sydney; sisters, Marie Power (Gary Crowther), Sydney Mines, Louise Ivey, North Sydney, Patricia MacGean, Ontario; sister-in-law Myrna Bazsay, Ontario and by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Jack Skinner; brother-in-law, Danny Power and sister-in-law Alice MacSween.
A private visitation and funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice/Palliative Care Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
