Harold "Archie" Jesty Obituary
We the family of Harold Archibald "Archie" Jesty, are heartbroken to announce his peaceful passing at home on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 93 years of age. Born in North Sydney on February 14, 1933, he was the son of the late Frank and Charlotte (Farrell) Jesty.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by the love of his life, Amelia (Sylliboy) Jesty, brothers Cecil and Reginald and sister Mabel (Cyril) "Cy" Wagner. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was also predeceased by his son Frank and daughter Cynthia and great-grandson Grayson Green-MacDonald.
He is survived by his children, Charlotte (Wayne), Charmaine (Jonathan), Timothy (Amanda), Jennifer (Curtis) and Derrick. Poppy is survived by grandsons Derrick (Alexis), Frank, Kenneth, Michael (Jessica), Alexander Green (Chrissie) and Grant Blinkhorn (Kristina); granddaughters Victoria Green (John), Paityn and Danica; 4 great-granddaughters and 4 great-grandsons. Also survived by nephews and nieces across the country.
We are going to miss his stories of his life, which were many, funny and interesting. Of picking carrots at Lawless farms where the 125 currently sits. Of his many adventures with his best friend Earl Dearing, mostly consisting of running out of gas somewhere on the road. Of his working life since 1957 as a proud union member of local 682 Plumbers and Pipefitters where he was the Business Agent for a time in the 70's. His stories of being in the army and being part of the team that broke down and put back together army jeeps. He also talked about being stationed in Montreal and hitchhiking home for the weekend and then hitchhiking back in time for Monday morning rollcall. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19 and the Northern Yacht Club. He enjoyed a lively debate anytime of day or night. He and mom were part of a group of friends who bowled regularly at Sealanes when it was downtown.
We knew if we had a problem to be fixed, he would be there and "archified it" so that we knew it would never ever fall apart. His off-color jokes, singing birthday songs and single lines of poetry will forever be missed. His absolute love of lobsters will not be forgotten.
We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the VON and the Northside Homemakers who helped make it possible for him to live at home comfortably.
There will be no visitation or service by request. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to the family by leaving a message on the tribute wall of the obituary.
