Hector Joseph MacEachern

Hector Joseph MacEachern passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. He will be remembered as a devoted family man whose quiet strength, kindness, and steady presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Born in Southside Boularderie on April 20,1943, he was the son of the late John and Christina (Bowen) MacEachern.  Hector was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucy MacEachern (née MacIntyre). He was also predeceased by his brother, Jack MacEachern, and is survived by his sister-in-law, Betty MacEachern. He is also survived by his partner, Betty Hatcher, whose companionship and care brought him comfort and joy.

He is lovingly remembered by his three children: Clayton MacEachern and his partner Tina Boyd; Phillip MacEachern and his husband Shannon Wagner; and Michelle Yeo and her husband Troy Yeo. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kayla, Meghan, Ryan, Liam, and Emily, and a cherished great-grandfather to Oliver and Charlie.

Hector’s life was marked by his deep love for family, respect for tradition, and appreciation for the simple moments that mattered most. His gentle nature, dependability, and care for others will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation for Hector will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating and Rev. Danny MacLennan concelebrating. The mass will be available to view on the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Facebook page.  A reception will follow the funeral at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19, Archibald Avenue. 

Burial will take place at St. Joachim Cemetery, Southside Boularderie at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to ALS Canada.
