It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our mother, Helen Marie Hardy, age 88, on Thursday April 21, 2022 at the Northside Community Guest Home where she has been a resident the past number of months.
Born in Balls Creek, NS on September 27, 1933, Helen was a daughter of the late Samuel and Bernice (Ball) Burns. She was employed in her younger years as a switchboard operator at Eaton’s Department Store in Sydney. She was a member of Christ the King Anglican Church, Sydney.
Helen is survived by her son Kirk, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, grandchildren; Javier (Josie) and Joshua (Holly), sister Alberta Devoe, brother-in-law Henry O’Shea, sister-in-law Muriel Burns, also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Helen was predeceased by her husband Harold Hardy, brothers Robert and Franklin Burns, sisters Alice Faye O’Shea, Clara Cooke and Edna Jane Burns.
A special thank you to her nephew Blaine Cooke, for always being there for Helen, special thanks to Dr. Alexander Wawer and the staff of Munroe Place at the Northside Community Guest Home for the compassionate care given to our mother.
By request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
