Helen Elaine (Shebib) MacPherson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on October 15, 1942, Elaine was the daughter of the late James and Mabel (Doucette) Shebib.
Elaine is survived by her husband Bill; sons Brian and Blair; brothers Brian (Monica) Shebib, Allan Shebib: sister Maureen Shebib; Aunt Sheila Hurcel; nieces Karen, Jennifer, Tina; nephew Jim Shebib, and many cousins.
Besides her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her son Bradley.
Elaine graduated from St. Joseph High School, North Sydney. During her school days she was an avid skater and a member of St. Joseph Church choir.
Elaine graduated from nursing school, at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, in 1963. She continued her nursing career at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, in Fredericton, until she retired 1997.
Elaine and Bill moved to North Sydney for the first years of their retirement, then moved to Moncton to be near their sons Brian and Blair, where they enjoyed life until her death. Elaine was an avid reader and knitter, and completed many cross-stitch pieces given to the family and friends who will cherish her beautiful pieces for years to come. Elaine was kind and considerate of others, and gave much of her knitting, including mitts to community groups, in particular to those providing support to people in need. Elaine loved baseball, as she spent many years watching her three boys playing ball. Her favorite team, of course, was the Toronto Blue Jays. She would have been so happy to see their game this week.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
