With heavy hearts and great sadness, we the family, regret to announce the passing of Henry Joseph “Hass” Clarke, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and nephew, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, at the age of 65
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Francis A “Bud” Clarke and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Jessome) Clarke.
Henry was a member of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local No. 92. He was also a fisherman in his younger years. Henry loved going fishing with his buddy Joey. Henry loved music, gardening and loved to dance when he could but as he got older health issues kind of took that away. He loved spending time with family and his good friends Wayne, Peter and Joey. Henry was a member of St. Matthew Wesly United Church, North Sydney.
Henry is survived by his children; daughters Kara LeBlanc-Verret, Elisha Walsh; granddaughters Trinity and Serenity Verret and grandson Bryson. Also surviving are his siblings, Elaine Frye, Tonya (Mitch) Cormier and brothers Terry and Craig Clarke all of North Sydney. He will be deeply missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and grandparents, Henry was predeceased by his brother David Wayne and sister Elizabeth Anne.
We would like to thank the staff at the ER and ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, and especially Dr. Jonathon Hebb for their care and kind words during the time my brother was with them. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association and the Heart and stroke foundation.
A funeral service for Henry will be held from 1-3 pm, Thursday, August 14, 2025, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney, with Marjorie Serafinus officiating.
