James W. Parsons
North Sydney
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, James William Parsons, age 73, on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on September 11, 1949 in North Sydney to the late Harold and Marie (Gillard) Parsons. He is survived by his wife Callista (Young) Parsons, two of his children Bill (Julianna) Parsons and Tanya (Charles) Carmichael; sister Velma (Hughie) MacDougall; grandchildren Adam, Gabriel, Matthew, Jessie, Annalyn, mother of his children Elaine and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents and son Rickey Parsons.
Jim was a kind, gentle soul who lived a life filled with compassion and unwavering love. His infectious smile and wonderful sense of humour could light up a room. He was very sociable and generous with his time to lend a helping hand or listening ear. A jack of all trades and excellent painter, when duty called, you could count on him. Jim was a valued employee of Marine Atlantic for over 35 years where he cultivated many friendships and earned bragging rights for his stevedore ability to deliver in a smooth and timely manner. Jim had a great love and passion for fishing and hunting. He and Callista enjoyed exploring and travelling around Cape Breton and Newfoundland. Jim will be lovingly remembered as a true gentleman whose exceptional kindness and wit was matched only by his love for his family.
We the family would like to thank the staff of the CCU at the CBRH and QEll for their excellent compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. By request there will be no visitation or funeral service.
