James “Jim” MacKinnon

Beaver Cove 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Joseph “Jim” MacKinnon, age 75, on Monday, February 27, 2023, at his home in Beaver Cove. 

Born in New Waterford on April 19, 1947, Jim was the son of the late John A. and Maria (MacNeil) MacKinnon. Jim worked for many years in Ontario before returning home to settle in Beaver Cove. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Parish in Boisdale and lent a constant and reliable hand to the general maintenance of the church and the adjoining cemetery. Jim was also a lifelong friend of Bill W. 

Jim is survived by his sisters Amilda of Beaver Cove, Ann (Alec) of Inverness and his brother Michael (Eileen) of Toronto, along with many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his special friend Nelda MacKinnon Dominix. 

Along with his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers John Anthony and Huey, his sisters Margaret and Christine, and by four brothers in infancy. 

There will be no service for Jim at this time but a funeral mass will be scheduled for a date in springtime at the Church of St. Andrew’s in Boisdale, with a burial to follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
