It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the death of our mother, Jane Kathleen Cox, age 91, on April 1, 2023, at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in Glace Bay on December 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George and Susan (Brown) Peddle. She was a 1951 graduate of Morrison Glace Bay High School and a 1954 graduate of the Glace Bay General Hospital School of Nursing where she received her R.N. certification. She was employed at the old Harbour View Hospital in Sydney Mines until she retired to raise her family. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Lynn (John) MacKinnon of North Sydney; her sons – Clifford (Donna) of Sydney, Doug (Donna) and Ken (Trish), both of North Sydney; sisters – Marilyn Bartlett of Donkin and Elaine Peddle of Glace Bay; brothers – Clifford Peddle of Keltic Drive and George Peddle of Glace Bay. She is further survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her husband, Harold Cox, a sister in infancy, and her sister-in-law Frances Peddle.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Taigh Solas at the Northside General Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to our mother.

A visitation for Jane will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 5th at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on April 6th at the St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating.
