It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Mary Bishop, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Northside Community Guest Home surrounded by loved ones.

Born in St. Jacques, Newfoundland, July 18, 1930, Janet was the daughter of the late Albert Skinner and Louisa (Scott) Skinner, nee Fudge. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.

Janet is survived by her children, Albert (Clare) Bishop, North Sydney, Pearl Douglas, Roy (Ronalda) Bishop, both of Sydney Mines, Randy (Tracy) Bishop, North Sydney; six grandchildren, Scott, Alison, Chris, Aaron, Suzie and Jaiden; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great- greatgrandchildren; her brothers, Louis Skinner, St. John’s, NL, Roland Fudge, St. Jacques, NL, sisters; Lucy Gunderson, Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Emma “Burnsie” Lawrence, St. Jacques, NL, Louisa (Charlie) Healey, St. John’s, NL, as well by nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Janet was predeceased by her loving husband John “Jack” Bishop and a sister; Isabel Wells, her step-father Clarence Fudge and also brothers and sisters-in-law.

Mom was a quiet soul who loved nothing more than a trip to the Saturday night dances with Dad, the company of her family and the many summer trips to her home town in Newfoundland. She will be fondly and deeply missed.

We love you Mom, you are with Dad now and at peace.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service for Janet will be held at a later date with burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
