Janet Mary (Naddaf) Jessome

“Mom, I know you loved me for as long as I have lived, but I have loved you my whole life”

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Janet Mary (Naddaf) Jessome, on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 72.

Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Moses J. Naddaf and Merle (Cornish) Naddaf. 

Mom was known to many for her witty humour and her one-of-a-kind expressions that I’m sure we could write her own dictionary for. She was also known for her warm, infectious smile that could light up any room. She had a heart of gold and would offer help to anyone who needed it no matter who they were.

Mom started her working life at General Instruments at a young age. She then became a PCW and worked at Northside Community Guest Home, the Coast Guard College in her later years, as well as private home care for many years.

Janet was a devoted loving mom to Tamara (Shane), Michelle (Salah), and Ashley (Francis), as well as her special nephews, who were like sons to her: Stephen (Elle), and Andrew (Paula). She was an adored grandmother to Cayleigh, Victoria, Colby, Gabriel, William, Santana, Dale, and Dalton. Mom is also survived by her sister, her sidekick, Bev (Frank) Yurczyszyn and her brother Mike (Aileen) Naddaf. 

Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by her brother Joe Naddaf, and by her sister and brother in infancy, Mary and Andrew Naddaf.

A visitation for Janet will be held from 6-8 pm, Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute wall of the obituary.
