It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mom, Eileen (Scott) Winstanley, age 91, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at her home on Seaview Drive.

Born in North Sydney, August 3, 1930, Eileen was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Bertha Scott. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney and was a choir member for many years.

Mom loved life, her family and gardening. In her younger years she played baseball and hockey, later she enjoyed bowling and curling and was an active member of the Northern Yacht Club. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #19, where she was involved with the poppy fund, bursaries and organizing the bingo games. She loved small animals and would feed any who came by her house.

She is survived by her son Ken Winstanley, her sister Helen Hodge, nephew Paul Billard and niece Lorraine Wheelock.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Alex Winstanley, sister Patricia Billard, brothers Clayton Scott and Shirley George Scott, brother-in-law Clarence Hodge.

I would like to thank the Northside Homemakers, Palliative Care and the VON for the great care they gave to my mother.

Visitation for Eileen will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Covid-19 restrictions will be in place at the funeral home and the church with proof of vaccination, NS Government ID and the wearing of masks. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
