It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Marie Henry, age 94, on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in North Sydney, December 30, 1927, Marie was the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Catherine (MacNeil) Merritt. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. In earlier years she enjoyed travelling with her husband Alfie and the family in their travel trailer to many parts of Canada and the United States. Marie enjoyed being a stay at home Mom looking after her two children and three grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Church.

Marie is survived by her daughter Shauna Henry (Dennis Scott), son David Henry, three grandchildren David Henry, Dennis Henry and Shawn Henry-Harris, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend Mary Wilkie.

Besides her parents Marie was predeceased by her husband Alfred Henry, brothers Michael (Winnie), Ephrem “Effie” (Jean), Thomas (Jean), Lloyd and Leo Merritt in infancy, sisters Louise (Abe) Astephen and Genevieve (Blowers) Gouthro.

No visitation by request, A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
