Frederick “Joe” Collet

It is with heavy hearts, we the family announce the passing of Frederick Joseph “Joe” Collet, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sydney on May 14, 1964, Joe was the son of George and the late Doreen (Crane) Collet.

Joe lived in Toronto for much of his life but was delighted when he finally moved back to his native Cape Breton where he took a job with A&L Seafoods in Louisbourg. He always treasured the natural beauty of his home island. Joe loved sports and was a die-hard fan of both the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was full of life and loved by everyone who met him. 

Besides his father, Joe is survived by his partner Ruth Anne Dominey, his sons Joey (Melissa), Tommy (Sammy); daughters Amanda (Martin Vio), Michelle (Janni), Stephanie; stepchildren Pamela and Trent; grandchildren Ryan, Jaxon, Charlee, Joziah and Jameson; sister Tina (Greg Torraville); sisters-in-law Erin Leblanc and Robyn Dominey; mother-in-law Lynn Dominey; best friend Vern (Carolyn); special niece Bailee, as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved. Joe will also be missed by his adored cats - Gracie and Daisy.

Joe was predeceased by his mother Doreen and his brother-in-law Dean.
