It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John DuPont on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Northside General Hospital, with his family by his side. He was 64 years of age.

Born in North Sydney on April 13, 1959, he was the son of the late Alexander and Rose Marie (Pearcey) DuPont. John was a happy, kind soul who had nothing but affection for everyone that he met in his life. He enjoyed simple pleasures such as going for long walks and sitting around a campfire with a beer. He loved listening to country music, dancing, and a having a good laugh. He was a big fan of the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and watching wrestling. Most of all, he cherished his family and friends.

John is survived by his adoring partner, Betty McGraw; his children Shaunna (Howie) MacKinnon, Corey (Natasha) and Curtis (Tanya) McGraw; brothers – Tommy (Joanne) and Sandy (Kathy); sisters Brenda (Malchie) DuPont, Pauline (Eddie) Campbell, Linda (Joe) DuPont, and Debbie (Don) Morris; sister-in-law, Penny Young. John is further survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, with special mention to grandson J.T., with whom John shared such a tight and unique bond.

 Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Mary; mother-in-law, Pearl Miles, brother-in-law, Wayne Young; sisters-in-law, Emma Jessome and Lena Kitchener; nephew Joshua MacKinnon. 

By request there will be no service at this time. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page at www.wjdooley.com.
