John Gregory Shaw

John Gregory Shaw, aged 66, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. He was born in North Sydney on February 16, 1958, son of the late Tommy Shaw and Florence Wilson.

Greg was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring after twenty-three years of dedicated service to his country, which afforded him the opportunity to travel all across our great nation.

Greg is survived by his partner, Patricia Roach – his loving, trusting companion who was his best friend and meant the world to him. He is further survived by his daughter, Christina (David), as well as grandchildren – Caidence, Zach, and Noah. Greg is also survived by siblings – Ronnie, Cathy (Paul), Cheryl (Rich), Jane (Darren), and Andrew (Raylene).

Besides his parents, Greg was predeceased by his step-father Angus Wilson, sister-in-law, Cora Shaw (late wife of Ronnie).

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Lisa Gammel, Dr. Bilal Hussain, the staff of the Wound Clinic, and all of the nurses in the CCU of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the excellent care given to Greg during these past few weeks.

There will be a funeral mass at 11am on Saturday, August 24, at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
