 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing Wayne Young (Pendergast), aged 65, on Monday November 30, 2020.

Born in Georges River, Wayne was the son of the late Francis Xavier and Priscilla Jean (Young) Pendergast. Wayne worked for many years as a drywaller and a taper, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. Everyone will remember Wayne as a man who loved to be around his friends and family. We will remember him for pulling pranks, his passion for fishing, cooking the best meals, his love for action movies and listening to Johnny Cash. His heart and his home were always open to any and everyone.

Wayne is survived by his common law partner, Ann Marie Bonnar; his children: Leona (Andy) Brasier, Boularderie; Duane (Nicole) Young, Ailsa Craig, Ontario; Ashley (Carrie) Young, London, Ontario; Shania (Jeff) MacPhee, Sydney; his eight grandchildren: Josh (Kelsey O’Toole), Brittany, Carter, Ethan, Nicholas, Chloe, Jacob, and Sophie; his brother, Alex (Valerie) Pendergast, North Sydney; his sisters Leona (Darrell) Pendergast, Sydney Mines, and Kathy (Donnie) Fitzgerald, Big Baddeck; aunts and uncles: Bill & Maude Broussard, Phyllis Brookman, Hugh McInnis, and Sam MacIntyre and his many cousins. Wayne is also survived by his long-time friend and mother of his three first-born children, Heather Young.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brothers, Wally and Danny Pendergast, as well as a brother who died in infancy.

A visitation will be held to the public from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, followed by a private family service in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, limited numbers will be permitted to enter the funeral home at one time, masks are mandatory and all social distancing and sanitization protocols will be in effect.
