Joseph Lawrence LeBlanc

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Lawrence (Larry) LeBlanc on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.

Born in Alder Point, Nova Scotia on January 15, 1932, Joseph was the son of the late John Francis LeBlanc and Lillian Irene (Day) LeBlanc.

Mourning Joseph’s loss are his two children - David (Charlotte) and Marina (Nick) Sanders; his grandchildren - Evan, John, Donna Lynn, Sheri, Becky, Erica, Aaron, Emily, Echo, Robyn, Rachel, Justin, Jessie, Jenna, Nicole, Marissa, Big Joe, Jared, Duke, Jimmy, Mike, Michelle and Tammy, along with his great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Beverley Thomas, William and Kevin LeBlanc and Dorothy (Owen) Marsh.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife Donna (Carlyle); children Paul (Heidi), Kevin, Larry (Theresa), Don (Heather), Tammy and Michel; his grandchildren Kyla, Kenny-Wayne, little Kevin and Clarissa. He was also predeceased by his siblings Mary Elizabeth, Mary Juanita, Sylvia Marie, Doreen Marcella, Mildred Marina, John Vincent, Reginald, Earl, Lloyd, Mary Cecilia, Micheal Paul, and by son-in-law Nick Sanders.

We will miss his unwavering dedication to the Toronto Maple Leafs, GO LEAFS GO! His love for the Leafs was further fueled by his time working at Maple Leaf Gardens. He lived in Oshawa for 40 years where he worked at the Civic Auditorium and the City Works Department. Joseph returned home to Cape Breton 20 years ago and really enjoyed the time he spent with his many friends and family. He always had a story to tell and he always made sure your glass was full.

The visitation will take place from 1 to 3 pm, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the North Sydney Food Bank, Salvation Army or a charity of choice.  Online condolences can be left for the family on the tribute page of the obituary.
