It is with broken hearts the family of Joyce Florence (Sampson) Swann, 65, announces her passing, after a battle with dementia on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in North Sydney, NS on July 5, 1957, Joyce is the daughter of Bernice (Lewis) Sampson, North Sydney and the late Charles Sampson. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her husband Emmanuel Swann.

Joyce loved life, she always saw the best in people and loved her family. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Joyce will live on in the hearts of her mother Bernice, children Chris Swann and Angelique Swann; her cherished grandchildren Manny and Stella; her siblings Mary McFarlane (Robert), Chas Sampson (Carolyn), Pierre Sampson (Delores), Paul Sampson (Lois), Alan Sampson (Wendy), Michelle Sampson (Gary), Bill Sampson (Paul) and Ron Sampson (Wendy); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Harbourstone Enhanced Care and Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their excellent care and compassion shown to Joyce.

Visitation for Joyce will be held 9:30 to 11:00 am Saturday August 27, 2022 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am in the funeral home with Deacon David Lewis officiating.
